CHOICES IN CHILDBIRTH

In 1996, Victoria created CHOICES IN CHILDBIRTH to create an independent voice in the birthing community by offering clients a consumer-oriented style of childbirth education and doula service.

Victoria has been a Birth and Postpartum Doula since 1990, and is certified through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) and DONA International. She was featured in an article about Doulas in 1998 by Metro Baby magazine, an article about Doulas in the Detroit Metro Times in 2002, and an article about doulas in the February 2004 issue of Oakland Style magazine.

Victoria has been teaching childbirth classes since 1991, when she became certified through the Association for Shared Childbirth.  In 1993, she also became an ICEA-certified Childbirth Educator ~ through the International Childbirth Education Association~ and has had two articles published in the ICEA JOURNAL, a quarterly periodical.

Victoria is also the former Chapter Coordinator and the current President-Elect for BirthNetwork National.   The mission of BirthNetwork National is to promote the awareness and availability of mother-friendly maternity care.

BirthNetwork National is an organization that is leading a grassroots movement based on the belief that birth can profoundly affect our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

BirthNetwork National advocates mother-friendly care, as defined by the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative (MFCI) through information, confidence, and support.  By making informed choices and having confidence in the process, families can experience safe and satisfying childbirth.
